Just a correction about Fotheringham:
He did have a varsity start at quarterback against Alhambra his senior year(1989). Westervelt was suspended that game for an off the field school incident.
I believe Joe Jennerson was the QB in 1979.
Hart should have went undefeated, we were winning 14-0 at half against MV and 13-0 at half against AG. MV came out in second half in a wingt which Hart wasent ready for and misdirection plays and Hart's offense sputtered in the second half of MV doomed them. AG the field goal kicker for AG kicked a 40 yarder and was helped out by a 5 yard offside penalty against Hart that moved the ball up, kicked it in the mud and made it. Hart first down and goal with 1 minute left were not able to punch it in. Thats when an injured Harper came in and missed the field goal which would have sent Hart to their 3rd consecutive championship against a team they played in league and held them to -47 yards in the game... Could have been arguably the best class that ever came out of Hart. 1984-1987 football seasons. Hart's class of 88 went 9-1, 10-0, 13-1, 11-2. 43-4 and should have went undefeated every game. Freshmen year ball on the 1 yard line at the end of the game, two personal foul penalties and coach getting a penalty lost the game for Hart. Junior year first game lost to Canyon (Hart known to start season slow), Senior year dominating both losses in the first half only to be plauged by turnovers and lack of putting points on the board.
Darryl Ingram averaged 28.8 yards per catch his senior season at Hart. He also had 3 touchdowns in the championship game against North Torrance. He scored 12 touchdowns that season including the playoffs
It sounds like you're getting that info from a banquet program. I'd love to get my hands on it and add to the info on the 1983 season.
